Seeding The Surf
In our ongoing effort to give back to the ocean, we raise native oysters in coastal waters.
We have set aside part of our farm to dedicate to planting oysters that we will never harvest.
To date, we have planted over 2,000,000 oysters that will remain in our
waters and provide habitat and water filtration for years to come.
Oysters are an important species in the fight for cleaner oceans. Not only do they help to reduce coastal erosion and provide a safe environment for young fish and invertebrates, they also remove negative contributors to poor water quality, including algae, nitrogen, sediments and carbon.
Acting as the "kidneys of the ocean," each adult oyster can filter as much as 50 gallons of water a day.
Through our Seed The Surf efforts, we are not only bettering the local water quality near locations where water enthusiasts gather, but are bolstering the oceanic food chain as well.
